LEGO 2016 / Friends Sets

In 2016 LEGO released 46 Friends sets across 10 subthemes. The largest Friends set from 2016 was 41130 Amusement Park Roller Coaster with a piece count of 1124 and a retail price of $99.99. The current estimated value of all these Friends sets from this year is about $1,774.75 which represents a 189.9% growth.

LEGO Friends sets are designed to appeal to girls and were introduced in 2012. The Friends theme includes mini-doll figures, which are around the same size as minifigures but are more realistic. LEGO Friends pieces are fully compatible with all LEGO System bricks and sets include pieces in pink and purple color schemes and depict scenes from suburban life set in the fictional town of Heartlake City.

2016 LEGO Sets

2016 saw some truly iconic releases with sets from Ghostbusters and the introduction of the Nexo Knights. LEGO also released the licensed, but short-lived The Angry Birds Movie theme. However, LEGO did discontinue Legends of Chima, Pirates and also the LEGO Simpsons which only did see a couple of sets. The Creator theme really shined in 2016 with the release of the Volkswagen Beetle (10252-1) and Big Ben (10253-1). The shining star that year for investors was certainly the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters and pretty much all the Speed Champions sets which have seen growth in the triple digits.
