In 2017 LEGO released 16 Marvel Super Heroes sets across 5 subthemes. The largest Marvel Super Heroes set from 2017 was 76088 Thor vs. Hulk Arena Clash with a piece count of 492 and a retail price of $59.99. The current estimated value of all these Marvel Super Heroes sets from this year is about $1,942.17 which represents a 468.2% growth.

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes theme is based on the characters created by Marvel Comics. Originally Marvel was a subtheme of the LEGO Super Heroes theme but was later separated into its own theme. Over time, sets in the Marvel Super Heroes theme includes most characters and situations released to the marvel Universe from films to the comics to TV series. The first wave of Marvel sets was released in 2012 and consisted of sets based on The Avengers and the X-Men comic books as well as the Ultimate Spider-Man TV series.

2017 LEGO Sets

2017 was a big year for the LEGO movies with the release of The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. With these films LEGO gave us a number of new sets and themes around these movies, with many of them already being significant investments for collectors. We also saw a number of new themes released that year including BrickHeadz, DC Super Hero Girls, Boost and of course sets for The LEGO Batman and The LEGO Ninjago movies. However, sadly as it is LEGo did retire the much beloved BIONICLE and Mixels themes as well as the short-lived The Angry Birds Movie theme.
