The original LEGO Batman theme was first released in 2006 and lasted until 2008 and features 15 sets, magnets, videos, books as well as toys released by McDonald's. Batman has been re-introduced in 2012 as part of the DC Super Heroes theme. The theme is based on Batman: The Animated Series but also include elements from other Batman universes, such as the Tumbler from the Christopher Nolan films. However, each set, aside from The Batcave: The Penguin and Mr. Freeze's Invasion, is based on scenarios that occurred on the show where each set features Batman fighting a villain.

2005 shaped up to be a significant year for LEGO collections. Starting with the fact that LEGO System celebrated its 50th anniversary, we also saw a LEGO set designers change their techniques in set designing. 2006 marked the year that the skin color of the Star Wars minifigures changed from yellow to light nougat which also continued to various other future licensed themes. While this was a simple change, the value of sets saw high growth. 2006 introduced the LEGO City theme which replaced the Town theme, as well as Tiny Turbos under the Racers theme. However, in 2006 LEGO did discontinue Alpha Team and Baby.
