The musical is a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz and is based on Gregory Maguire's novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The theme's characters and sets focus on the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West, named Elphaba, and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch. The theme was introduced in late 2024.
