Set Value (New/Sealed)

This represents the current new/sealed value of the set Sea Explorer since September 1984. Medium accuracy
LEGO 2649 Sea Explorer is a DUPLO set released in 1984, containing 36 pieces and 3 DUPLO figures. Designed for preschool builders, the set includes elements to assemble a large boat, a car, and a smaller boat. Based on current trends, this set could be valued near $135 within the next year.
Sea Explorer (2649-1) is a very old and rare LEGO set. It has not been available online or in retail stores in good/new condition for over 2 years. Because of its scarcity, the current estimated value of in new condition of $130.05 may be much lower than its true market value. Released in 1984, sealed sets in good condition are especially difficult to find, often commanding a premium well above estimates.

“The Sea Explorer comes together around a big, sturdy hull, with bright colors and chunky sections that make the boat feel instantly recognizable. The deck has just enough built-in details and accessories to keep the structure interesting without feeling busy or fragile. The figures and small vehicles fit naturally into the layout, giving the whole build a solid, cohesive look that holds up well when assembled and taken apart.”

About Duplo

The LEGO DUPLO theme was introduced as far back as 1969 and is designed for children ages 1 to 5. It features DUPLO figures which are much larger than minifigures and DUPLO blocks which are about twice the length, width, and height of a standard System brick. Like LEGO System, DUPLO also has subthemes that are often junior versions of System themes, like Pirates and Castle and licensed themes like Disney and Super Heros.
Summary
Duplo Sea Explorer set 2649 was released in September 1984, retailing for $25, but has since been retired. New, unopened Sea Explorer sets are valued at $130, while used sets can be found for $97 in good condition.
