LEGO 8531 Pohatu is a Bionicle Toa Mata set released in 2001, containing 49 pieces. The build represents the Toa of Stone and features foot-mounted tools and a gear mechanism that drives a kicking motion, plus a brown boulder accessory. Some copies included a Toa Mata Mini Promo CD, and a later variant, 8531-2, explicitly bundled a mini CD-ROM. Pohatu can also be combined with 8532 Onua and 8534 Tahu to form the Toa Kaita Akamai.

“Pohatu was released three times: in 2001 as a Toa Mata, 2002 as a Toa Nuva, and again as a Phantoka in 2008, each time as a canister set. Pohatu Mata's weapons were additions that went on his feet, and when you turned a gear on his back, his leg would kick. As a Toa Nuva, he... More was equipped with Nuva Armour and claws, which could be formed to create the Kodan Ball. As a Phantoka, Pohatu had a Midak Skyblaster and weapons that tripled as propellers, claws, and drills.”

“The set is great. I love the fact that he could kick witch no other to a could. As my only toa mata I was surprised and loved the canister were you can turn it and it showed different pictures! Also, he came two days before the date he was suppose to. Then again Pohatu is... More the fastest toa.”

About Bionicle Toa Mata

The Toa Mata are the main heroes of LEGO BIONICLE and comprised of Tahu, Gali, Lewa, Pohatu, Onua, and Kopaka. They were the first Toa and where originally just known as Toa. When they were submersed in energized protodermis and came out with enhanced powers and abilities, Toa Tahu renamed them the Toa Nuva. Their powers included strong control over their element, personal tools used mainly for directing their elemental power, and a Kanohi Mask granting an additional ability. On Mata Nui the Toa each collected additional Kanohi Masks that allowed them to use the powers that their brother Toa have.

Toa Mata was introduced in 2001 and currently consists of 6 sets. As of today, 8534 Tahu is the most valuable Toa Mata set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $399.
