About Blockbuster Video

LEGO and Blockbuster Video collaborated around 1999–2000 on a limited series of promotional sets distributed through Blockbuster stores in North America. The partnership produced several small exclusive builds aimed at younger audiences, including 1759 Parrot (Duplo), and three Basic/FreeStyle sets — 3331 Bird, 3332 Plane, and 3333 Helicopter. These sets were simple, entry-level models designed to be given away or sold at a low promotional price with movie rentals or purchases. The collaboration aligned with LEGO’s late-1990s marketing strategy of partnering with major entertainment retailers to reach families and children, while giving Blockbuster a family-friendly in-store promotion.
