The LEGO System i Leg Mosaic theme, introduced in the mid-1950s, focused on creating artistic designs using small, colorful tiles. This theme includes sets such as the "1300 LEGO Mosaik Set Small" and the "1301 LEGO Mosaik Set Large." These sets allowed builders to create detailed mosaics by arranging 1x1 tiles on a baseplate, encouraging creativity and fine motor skills. The 1300 set provided a smaller selection of tiles and simpler designs, while the 1301 set offered a larger variety of tiles for more complex and detailed mosaics. This theme showcased LEGO's versatility beyond traditional building, promoting artistic expression and design.
1955 LEGO Sets
1955 marked the debut of the LEGO System i Leg—“System of Play”—the foundation of the modern LEGO philosophy. Introduced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, the concept unified LEGO sets under a single scale and theme: a buildable town with houses, vehicles, and streets. Though early reception was cautious, it established the guiding Principles of Play later adopted companywide. LEGO also entered new markets in Sweden and Germany, broadening its reach beyond Scandinavia.
