About LEGO Classic Supplemental
Starting in the 1950s LEGO began individual parts sales, a practice that began with the Ferguson Tracktor in 1951. LEGO would supply dealers with wooden parts boxes and refill packs. These individual part sales would continue, at least in some markets, into the late 1950’s.
1960 LEGO Sets
1960 was both a turning point and a trial for LEGO. A warehouse fire destroyed most of the company’s wooden toy inventory, prompting a full shift to plastic production and the LEGO System of Play. New Basic sets debuted with distinct box artwork, replacing earlier generic packaging. LEGO Finland and LEGO Netherlands were founded, and marketing efforts expanded sharply with new advertising campaigns, solidifying LEGO’s focus on the brick as its core identity.
