The LEGO Duplo PreSchool theme, active in the early 1970s, was among the first Duplo lines designed for younger children. Key sets in this theme include "LEGOVille" (082), which featured a variety of buildings, vehicles, and figures to create a small town setting; "PreSchool Set" (78 and 75), which included basic building elements and figures to encourage creative play and learning; and "Train Station" (081), which provided a simple train station setup with a train, track, and station elements. These sets focused on developing fine motor skills and imaginative play in preschool-aged children.
1977 LEGO Sets
1977 introduced the Expert Builder series—precursor to Technic—using beams, axles, and gears for mechanically rich models. Town-style sets broadened everyday subjects with houses, shops, and vehicles. Dedicated Space and Castle themes were still a year away, but elements and styling hinted at their imminent arrival.
