In 1980 LEGO released 5 Fabuland sets. The largest Fabuland set from 1980 was
3665 Harry Horse and Clara Cow's Ice Cream Shoppe with a piece count of 36 and a retail price of $13.95. The current estimated value of all these Fabuland sets from this year is about $1,081.86 which represents a 2618.9% growth.
The Fabuland theme included sets that depicted the land of Fabuland and introduced Fabuland Figures, characters with human-like bodies with various animal heads. Fabuland was the first LEGO theme to introduce named characters that focused around a story and was the first LEGO theme to feature licensed products such as storybooks, playing cards, children’s clothing and animated TV series to enhance the playing experience through storytelling and role play. The FABULAND figures have heads of a mammal, a reptile or a bird sometimes topped by a peaked hat, and arms and legs with motion very similar to LEGO minifigures.

In 1980, LEGO introduced the LEGO Train theme, building upon previous train sets but now incorporating 12-volt systems for electrification. The year also marked the debut of the LEGO Classic Space theme, adding a new dimension to LEGO's portfolio with sets that focused on futuristic and extraterrestrial exploration. Additionally, the Technic line, which emphasized more advanced building techniques with specialized parts, continued its growth.
