LEGO 1981 / Town / Construction Sets

LEGO Construction is a subtheme of the Town introduced in 1980 and ran until 1997 that was based around various types of construction. Town Construction was later moved to the City theme.

1981 LEGO Sets

In 1981, LEGO continued to expand its thematic range to cater to a growing and diverse audience. This year saw the continued development of LEGO Fabuland, a theme introduced in 1979 and designed for younger builders transitioning from DUPLO to standard LEGO bricks. Fabuland sets featured unique anthropomorphic animal characters, simple yet detailed builds, and a strong storytelling element, blending town and country life in a way that encouraged imaginative play.
