Episode II covers Attack of the Clones, released in 2002. Its first sets brought the clone troopers, Jango Fett and the Geonosians into LEGO, and 7163 Republic Gunship was the large set of the year.
2002 LEGO Sets
2002 was a mixed year of success and experimentation. Star Wars dominated with Episode II: Attack of the Clones sets and collector favorites like the Imperial Star Destroyer (10030), while the Western theme’s Fort LEGOredo (6762) gained long-term appeal. New themes included Spider-Man, Island Xtreme Stunts, and expanded Racers sets, but LEGO also faced missteps with Galidor and Spybotics—both short-lived departures from traditional building. Core themes such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Alpha Team remained strong, making 2002 a year of both breakthroughs and lessons learned.
