2008 / Creator

In 2008 LEGO released 13 Creator sets. The largest Creator set from 2008 was 4997 Transport Ferry with a piece count of 1279 and a retail price of $69.99. The current estimated value of all these Creator sets from this year is about $808.83 which represents a 326.2% growth.

The LEGO Creator theme consists of a variety of subthemes that revolve around sets that focus on buildings, creatures, vehicles, robots and recently more specialized sets such as botanical and even the Chinese New Year. Many of these sets have fallen under the 3-in-1 label which include instructions in a single set to provide multiple alternative models. Originally created in 2001 with a focus on larger bucket sets, the LEGO Creator theme has expanded outside just bricks to later include minifigures.

2008 LEGO Sets

In 2008, LEGO celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Minifigure. It was also the 50th Anniversary of the LEGO Brick. This year also marked the release of LEGO Cuusoo which eventually paved the way for the highly collectable LEGO Ideas theme. In 2008, LEGO and LucasFilm released the Indiana Jones theme, making it the second LucasFilm theme to be released along with Star Wars. Notable set's in 2008 LEGO released the now infamous Green Grocer (10185-1) which started the investments of other collectable modular building for decades to come.
