About LEGO City

In 2016 LEGO released 45 City sets across 11 subthemes. The largest City set from 2016 was 60125 Volcano Heavy-Lift Helicopter with a piece count of 1277 and a retail price of $129.99. The current estimated value of all these City sets from this year is about $3,033.94 which represents a 184.1% growth.

The LEGO City theme is based on city life with the sets depicting city and emergency services, police, fire, airport, train, construction, and civilian services. The City theme proceeded LEGO Town which was replaced with LEGO World City in before it was rebranded as City in 2005.
2016 LEGO Sets
2016 saw some truly iconic releases with sets from Ghostbusters and the introduction of the Nexo Knights. LEGO also released the licensed, but short-lived The Angry Birds Movie theme. However, LEGO did discontinue Legends of Chima, Pirates and also the LEGO Simpsons which only did see a couple of sets. The Creator theme really shined in 2016 with the release of the Volkswagen Beetle (10252-1) and Big Ben (10253-1). The shining star that year for investors was certainly the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters and pretty much all the Speed Champions sets which have seen growth in the triple digits.
