In 2017 LEGO released 65 Minifigure Series sets across 3 subthemes. The largest Minifigure Series set from 2017 was The LEGO Ninjago Movie Complete Set with a piece count of 136 and a retail price of $64.00. The LEGO Minifigure Series, also known as Collectable Minifigures, was introduced in 2010 and features bling bags of a random LEGO minifigure, each being an original character with new designs, clothing and facial expressions, and most contain previously unseen accessories. Most subthemes contains characters based on movies, sports, history, and popular culture and there are a number of subthemes that are based on licensed products such as The Simpsons, DC heroes, Harry Potter and numerous others.

2017 LEGO Sets

2017 was a big year for the LEGO movies with the release of The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. With these films LEGO gave us a number of new sets and themes around these movies, with many of them already being significant investments for collectors. We also saw a number of new themes released that year including BrickHeadz, DC Super Hero Girls, Boost and of course sets for The LEGO Batman and The LEGO Ninjago movies. However, sadly as it is LEGo did retire the much beloved BIONICLE and Mixels themes as well as the short-lived The Angry Birds Movie theme.
