Review for LEGO set 6551 Checkered Flag 500 from Brickipedia
“The two racers share the same design and feature spring suspensions and large rear spoilers. They are labelled with the numbers "2" and "4". Among the six included minifigures are the two race drivers (including Eddie Octane), two race crew members (one with a walkie talkie... More and one with a checkered flag) as well as a male and a female spectator.”

About Town Racing
The Town Racing minifigures are the drivers, pit crews and race officials of LEGO's racing sets from 1980 to 1999. Drivers wear jackets with zippers and racing stripes, many with numbers or team logos, and helmets with visors. Until the early 1990s some figures carry the Shell logo, and from 1992 the Octan team took over, so most later racers and mechanics wear Octan on their torso and cap. Eddie Octane is one of the few named drivers. Truck drivers, race officials in vests and spectators fill out the larger sets.
