LEGO set 10246 Detective's Office was a 2,262 piece Creator Expert set with 6 minifigs released in January 2015. It is a multi roof line modular set with three buildings and an alley way that includes the main Detective's Office (Ace Brickman) to which the set is named after, a barber's shop, a pool hall, kitchen, bathroom, terrace and an interconnecting section with balconies. In addition, it comes packed with a storyline which is based on the prohibition of sugar, where private detective Ace Brickman is trying to figure out who is smuggling cookies and sweets which is happening right above his office.

It was retired in March 2018 with a lifespan of 38 months. The current value for a new and sealed Detective's Office is estimated around $402 today with current average yearly gain of about 18% but will level off in the next year closer to a 10% annual growth making it a solid investment. Is this LEGO set a good investment?
“Over that last few years Detective's Office has been a particularly good investment for Icons collectors with an annualized growth of upwards of 18.3% per year. However, there is market indication that the set will experience a slight annual growth decrease in the coming years, but this should be only by a few percentage points at most. When compared to the vast majority of set in the Icons theme, this set is still an excellent investment for collectors.”

“One of the first things you will notice about the LEGO Detective’s Office is its unusual layout. Most previous LEGO Modular Buildings are basically a big box on a 32×32 baseplate with a walkway at the front, and an alleyway at the back. As LEGO Modular sets are designed for... More older LEGO fans they don’t usually have a back-story and play-features like the sets aimed towards kids. This is another area where the LEGO Detective’s Office breaks away from the norm. It in fact has an elaborate back-story.”

Modular Buildings currently consists of 10 sets that as of now has run from 2013 to 2022. As of today, 10251 Brick Bank is the most valuable Modular Buildings set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $595.
