LEGO 2871 Diver and Shark is a Town Divers set released in 1997, containing 16 pieces and 1 minifigure. The build features a diver with scuba gear, a handheld thruster, and a harpoon, alongside a white shark and a small treasure barrel with a jewel and a saber. The white shark element was used across the 1997–1998 Divers range and is a notable part of the subtheme’s underwater fauna. The set was also issued as a promotion with Blockbuster in 1997 and with Little Chef in the United Kingdom in 1998. It is the smallest set in the Divers subtheme.

“The LEGO Town/Divers Diver and Shark set from 1997 is a small yet engaging build that features a well-equipped diver, a white shark unique to the range, and a treasure-filled barrel with a lid, jewel, and saber. Despite its size, the set offers plenty of playability with the diver's harpoon, propeller, and fins, plus the excitement of underwater exploration. While it lacks alternative builds, its detailed accessories and distinct elements make it a charming addition to any underwater-themed collection.”
 

About Town Divers

LEGO Divers is a subtheme of the Town introduced in 1997 that was based around maritime exploration with all its twelve sets being released in that single year. The Divers theme's sets featured mini submarines, divers and underwater bases as well as surface ships and various forms of sea life. Divers were later replaced under the City theme and renamed Deep Sea Explorers.

Divers consists of 12 sets that ran from 1997 to 1998. As of today, 6560 Diving Expedition Explorer is the most valuable Divers set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $565.
