Insights

Limited to a short gift-with-purchase run in 2024, the Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene draws repeat seasonal interest for its Christmas display appeal, and constrained supply plus Nutcracker recognition support moderate long-term collectability, while remake risk and small, non-licensed format limit upside.

Set Facts

The set features a rotating ballerina minifigure wearing a tutu and holding a small Nutcracker figure.
Additional elements include a LEGO Christmas tree and a window with a view of the night sky.

Jays Brick Blog

“40701 Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene looks fantastic, and I love that they’re bringing back the Ballerina minifigure. There are some fantastic details, including the starry sky outside of the windows, and the ability for the Ballerina to twirl by spinning the splat gears.”

Brick Fanatics

“The builds themselves are fairly detailed, with 40701 Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene depicting a gold and nougat stage, complete with a ballerina minifigure in front of a brightly colored decorated Christmas tree.”

About Seasonal Christmas

Christmas is the Seasonal subtheme for LEGO's holiday sets, and new ones come out every autumn. The earliest are small Santa builds from 1999. Many of the smaller sets are given free with purchases in November and December rather than sold, which is how 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute, a scene from A Christmas Carol, reached most people in 2020.

Christmas was introduced in 1999 and currently consists of 120 sets. As of today, 40489 Mr. and Mrs. Claus' Living Room is the most valuable Christmas set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $279.

Let kids discover the wonder of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker with this LEGO® Ballerina & Nutcracker Scene (40701) building set, a creative gift for girls and boys aged 9 and up. Young builders will love recreating the iconic story with LEGO bricks before getting acquainted with the rotating ballerina minifigure, who wears a tutu and holds a small Nutcracker figure. Other delightful elements include a window with a view of the night sky and a LEGO Christmas tree.
