“This set is a medium-to-large Ninja set. In the instructions it shows one Samurai in the jail cell and the other pulling around a small catapult. The top of the catapult lifts up to reveal a Ninja Sword. The catapult device works by pushing down one part with enough force to... More cause the brick in it to go flying. The Fortress is defended by a group of two Black Ninja.”

Lego Maniacs' Guide
“The 6088 comprises a three-story construction with the first level being a large double-door entryway opening into a small foyer with a sword stand whose base can hide small goodies like coins. The roof of the first floor is sustained by two large red (square) pillars and a... More booby trap set in the roof features a beam which swings down with four katana blades mounted on one end to skewer and shish kabob any unwanted intruders (though I don't think I've ever heard of WANTED intruders before). To one side of the foyer a small second story balcony overlooks the outside of the structure.”

About Castle Ninja

Ninja was a Castle subtheme from 1998 to 2000 and the first time the theme left medieval Europe, for feudal Japan. Its sets had ninja, samurai, a shogun in his stronghold and a band of robbers, with secret doors, hidden weapons and booby traps in the buildings. 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress was the largest set. The line ended in 2000 with minifigure packs. The ninja minifigures brought new headgear and weapons that LEGO used for years after. The idea came back on a much larger scale in 2011 with Ninjago, a theme of its own.

Ninja consists of 29 sets that ran from 1998 to 2000. As of today, 3346 Three Minifig Pack Ninja #3 is the most valuable Ninja set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $823.
