LEGO 700-4 Gift Package is a LEGO Mursten Town Plan set released in 1954, during the transition from the Automatic Binding Bricks line to the standardized LEGO System of Play. The set consisted of an assorted collection of early Mursten-era elements, including basic bricks, windows, and doors, intended for open-ended construction rather than specific models. The pieces were molded in cellulose acetate plastic and featured the hollow-stud design used before the introduction of tube-based interlocking bricks in 1958. Box contents and artwork varied by year, as LEGO had not yet implemented consistent set numbering or fixed part inventories across its product line.

About Mursten Town Plan

LEGO Mursten Town Plan Sets, produced in the early 1950s, were among the first themed sets released by the LEGO Group. These sets included the simple, hollow rectangular bricks of the LEGO Mursten era and allowed builders to create basic models of buildings and town layouts. One of the notable sets was the Town Plan No. 1 (set number 700/1), introduced in 1955, which included elements to build a small town, such as houses, a service station, and road signs. These sets were precursors to the more sophisticated town and city themes that LEGO would develop in later years, paving the way for the extensive LEGO City theme.

Town Plan consists of 6 sets that ran from 1954 to 1956. As of today, 700-3A-1 Gift Package is the most valuable Town Plan set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $3,236.
