LEGO 7420 Thunder Blazer is a 69 piece Adventurers set released in 2003 and includes one Johnny Thunder minifigure. The set features a recolored version of the bi-plane design originally used for Lord Sam Sinister’s aircraft in 7417 Temple of Mount Everest, here presented in grey, earth orange, and bright red. The model represents the Thunder Blazer, a vintage-style biplane connected to the Orient Expedition storyline. According to the narrative the aircraft is flown by Johnny Thunder, Pippin Reed, and Dr. Kilroy on a journey from the Himalayas to China.

About Adventurers Orient Expedition

The Orient Expedition subtheme of The Adventurers theme was released in 2003 and discontinued in 2005. The theme was about Johnny Thunder, Dr. Kilroy, Pippin Reed, and their new Asian friends going through Asia to find the Golden Dragon of Marco Polo and his three other treasures before the sneaky Lord Sam Sinister and his partners-in-crime did. This is was the last subtheme of Adventurers. Each set with more than 100 pieces came with stat cards and a piece of a game board that could be added to the Orient Expedition Board Game.

Orient Expedition was introduced in 2003 and currently consists of 20 sets. As of today, 7419 Dragon Fortress is the most valuable Orient Expedition set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $1,145.
