LEGO 81001 Shark Skin is a FORMA add-on skin released in 2019, containing 31 pieces. “I do like the set, I mainly build in Technic and this model is 90+% Technic, and importantly it looks good as a display piece on a shelf. The main downside I've found is the model as a whole is very light and so when you place it on a smooth surface (like a conservatory... More coffee table) you have to hold the base still to crank the handle.”

Its colour scheme does not particularly stand out but it looks very realistic and features surprising detail when viewed at close range. I am equally satisfied... More with the swimming motion and the articulation of the pectoral fins is remarkably useful for creating dynamic displays.”

LEGO FORMA was a theme first released on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo but run by the LEGO Group. FORMA is a fish-inspired line geared toward overwhelmed grown-ups based on Technics parts. There is the base set, which includes the LEGO FORMA kit and Koi carp skin. There are different foil skins which can be added to the base set, these include a shark, splash Koi and ink Koi.
