LEGO 8219 Racer is a Technic set released in 1998, containing 103 pieces. Also known as 8219 Go-Cart, it was marketed as a Tech Play starter set. “This is definitely one of the better efforts from that year… At 103 pieces it's still small and cheap, it looks good and, despite using the same steering rack piece as its predecessor, it feels sturdier thanks to a little extra support. Its longish wheelbase, slow steering... More and soft, grippy tyres curtail the oversteer fun somewhat, but it'll do it on a smooth surface. Its engine runs at 3x wheel speed and provides a chattery soundtrack.”

“he 8219 go kart, released in 1998, is quite an accurate representation of a real go kart. The wheel base is almost square, and the tires are wide and smooth. The center of gravity is low, and a single cylinder engine is rear mounted to a solid drive axle with a tune pipe... More for exhaust. It even has a single rear brake disc. The steering uses the flexible rack assembly. Although the model is scaled for a Technic figure, the set does not come with one.”

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984.
