“Set 8849 was released in 1986 as the third large tractor in only 10 years. It features rack and pinion steering on a pendular axle, a PTO, and lifting rear implements including a sprayer. Both studded building techniques and pinned construction are used throughout. This... More tractor is slightly smaller than the last and no longer has a reciprocating engine or a differential.”

“The Tractor 8849 from the Lego Technic series is a nice model in itself, but unfortunately there are still a few things to criticize. Apart from the few functions, this tractor has no differential, which the preceding model 8859 already had. In addition, the construction of... More the tractor is somewhat shaky, as it tends to tilt backwards, and the black counterweight at the front does not change this. In addition, it’s relatively difficult to steer because of the "exhaust", which spoils the fun. Therefore, there are only 4 stars in total.”

About Technic

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984. TECHNIC is still an active theme, and is one of the longest running themes in LEGO history. While most TECHNIC sets are vehicles that use pieces to mimic real vehicles, such as engine pieces, suspension, pneumatic, and transmission pieces, the TECHNIC parts have been used by various other System themes as well as LEGO Mindstorms.
