“The Prop Plane from the Lego Technic series is one of the largest models ever, at least considering its enormous wingspan. It’s a hydroplane built from a total of 574 individual parts. The assembly is only moderately fun because the technical functions were kept very simple,... More at least for its time. There are also only two functions in total. One would expect the propeller to be driven by the engine but, unfortunately, that is not the case. Also, the pistons in the engine only move up and down when the propeller is turned by hand. All in all, the Prop Plane is a beautiful model, even if it is only impressive because of its size, so it still gets four stars in the overall rating.”

About Technic

TECHNIC is one of The LEGO Company's main lines based on creating detailed model machines and mechanical toys with specialized beams, axles, gears and connectors and primarily designed for older children and adults. The theme was first introduced as the Expert Builder series in 1977, but was officially renamed as TECHNIC in 1984. TECHNIC is still an active theme, and is one of the longest running themes in LEGO history. While most TECHNIC sets are vehicles that use pieces to mimic real vehicles, such as engine pieces, suspension, pneumatic, and transmission pieces, the TECHNIC parts have been used by various other System themes as well as LEGO Mindstorms.
