About 1953 LEGO Sets

In 1953, LEGO rebranded its Automatic Binding Bricks as LEGO Mursten, or “LEGO Bricks,” marking the birth of the modern name. Sets began selling in Norway and Sweden, introducing LEGO to markets outside Denmark. This year also saw the first baseplates, 1x1 and 1x2 bricks, and the LEGO logo embossed inside each brick.
