About LEGO Classic HO 1:87 Vehicles
The LEGO HO 1:87 Vehicles subtheme, also referred to as LEGO small vehicles where plastic sets released in the 1950's and 1960's to compliment LEGO sets which could be used to build houses, gas stations, garages, shops and more. These vehicles sets remailed in production for almost ten years until they were replaced by LEGOLAND vehicles in the early 1970s. LEGO made the these small 1:87 scale vehicles until around 1969.
1961 LEGO Sets
1961 marked LEGO’s formal entry into North America through a licensing agreement with Samsonite, granting exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute LEGO in the United States and Canada. The first ‘LEGO by Samsonite’ sets reached U.S. stores that year. LEGO Italy was also established, extending the brand’s European network. On the product side, LEGO introduced the first wheels and received a U.S. patent for its stud-and-tube brick design, laying the foundation for its global system standard.
