About LEGO Classic Basic Set

These are the plain LEGO basic sets of the 1960s, boxes of bricks without a theme, sold for building whatever the owner liked. They came in cardboard boxes in a range of sizes, numbered by size. Promotions were part of the story too. Sets were made for the New York World's Fair of 1964, and in 1969 small sets were given away with Quaker's Life cereal in the United States. 1963 LEGO Sets
1963 was pivotal for material and design innovation. LEGO completed its transition from cellulose acetate to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), improving color stability, durability, and clutch power. The company also launched Modulex—a smaller, precision-scaled building system for architects—produced by the new subsidiary Modulex A/S. Modulex elements were based on a 5mm grid and designed for 1:20 scale modeling, expanding LEGO’s presence into professional design and planning.
