Lion Knights is the name collectors use for the knights with the lion crest, one of the first Castle factions of 1984. LEGO did not give them an official name for years, and catalogues called them Lion Knights in the United States and Australia and Lion Crest in Canada.
1989 LEGO Sets
1989 was a landmark year with the global debut of LEGO Pirates, introducing expressive minifigure faces, large sailing ships, and the Imperials vs. buccaneers conflict. Space Police I launched as a law-and-order counterpoint to Blacktron, while Model Team continued to grow with realistic, detail-rich vehicles for older builders. LEGO also strengthened its education arm under the LEGO Dacta name, reflecting an ongoing commitment to learning through play.
