About LEGO Town Accessories
Town Accessories are the packs that filled out a LEGO Town layout between 1978 and 2002, with no building of their own. Road plates make up the largest part. They came as pairs of 32x32 baseplates printed as straight, curved, T-junction or crossroad sections, and were reissued several times up to 2002. Minifigure packs are the other staple, such as 6308 Policemen (1982), 6307 Firemen (1983) and 6309 Town Minifigures (1988), which has a mechanic, a police officer, a doctor, a firefighter and an aircraft controller. The rest are road signs, trees, flowers, flags and fences.
1997 LEGO Sets
1997 saw LEGO’s first major sales decline, prompting experimentation and digital expansion. LEGO Island introduced the brand’s first open-world video game, setting the stage for future digital storytelling. New subthemes included Divers for underwater exploration, Fright Knights for gothic medieval fantasy, and Time Twisters as a sequel to Time Cruisers. LEGO Space added Roboforce and UFO, shifting toward alien-focused designs, while Aquazone expanded with Aquaraiders. Despite challenges, LEGO’s creativity remained strong across both physical and emerging digital platforms.
