Fright Knights was a Castle line of 1997 and 1998, part of the move of Castle from history into fantasy. Basil the Bat Lord leads the knights, under a black and red flag with a bat crest, along with Willa the Witch and her crystal ball. The sets brought new parts with them, among them bats, chains, a crystal ball and Basil's winged helmet. 6037 Witch's Windship and 6087 Witch's Magic Manor gave the witch a ride and a home of her own.
1998 LEGO Sets
1998 marked LEGO’s leap into programmable play with the launch of LEGO Mindstorms, combining motors, sensors, and code for user-built robots. LEGO also entered digital entertainment with games like LEGO Creator, LEGO Loco, and LEGO Chess. New themes included Adventurers, following Johnny Thunder’s global expeditions, and Insectoids, a sci-fi successor to Exploriens. LEGO Castle revisited classic factions such as Crusaders and Dragon Masters, reconnecting with its medieval roots while bridging into modern set design.
