About LEGO Town Arctic

LEGO Arctic was a 2000 Town subtheme that was centered around arctic exploration. The sets featured several snow vehicles and a research station. Arctic's background story involved meteors that were falling to Earth in locations around the Arctic and the explorers tracked down the impact sites to collect these meteors. Arctic was later reintroduced in 2014 through the City theme but instead of the word Arctic in the logo, there is a seal with the continent of Antarctica.
2000 LEGO Sets
2000 was a year of transition and innovation for LEGO. The company introduced RoboRiders, Knights’ Kingdom, Life on Mars, Studios, and a Soccer/Football theme while retiring veteran designer Jens Nygaard Knudsen, creator of the minifigure. Star Wars launched its first Ultimate Collector Series sets—the X-wing Fighter (7191) and TIE Interceptor (7181)—establishing LEGO’s adult collector market.
