About LEGO City

In 2008 LEGO released 45 City sets across 10 subthemes. The largest City set from 2008 was 10184 Town Plan with a piece count of 1981 and a retail price of $149.99. The current estimated value of all these City sets from this year is about $6,136.31 which represents a 377.9% growth.

The LEGO City theme is based on city life with the sets depicting city and emergency services, police, fire, airport, train, construction, and civilian services. The City theme proceeded LEGO Town which was replaced with LEGO World City in before it was rebranded as City in 2005.
2008 LEGO Sets
In 2008, LEGO celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Minifigure. It was also the 50th Anniversary of the LEGO Brick. This year also marked the release of LEGO Cuusoo which eventually paved the way for the highly collectable LEGO Ideas theme. In 2008, LEGO and LucasFilm released the Indiana Jones theme, making it the second LucasFilm theme to be released along with Star Wars. Notable set's in 2008 LEGO released the now infamous Green Grocer (10185-1) which started the investments of other collectable modular building for decades to come.
