The LEGO Minecraft theme is based on the video game Minecraft and a collaboration between Mojang and the LEGO Group. Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Notch (Markus Persson) and later developed and published by Mojang / Microsoft. The official release occurred in 2013 with the first set, Minecraft: Micro World: The Forest, released under LEGO Ideas and was created by Mojang through the LEGO CUUSOO program in 2012. At MineCon 2013, LEGO announced brand new minifigure-scale Minecraft sets.
2018 LEGO Sets
In 2018, The LEGO Company celebrated the 60th anniversary of the brick and introduced a number of sets to commemorate this. This year also so a number of new and revisited themes including the return of Harry Potter sets after 6 years. New themes such as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, The Powerpuff Girls, Unikitty! and Solo: A Star Wars Story was added to LEGO Star Wars. We also so the discontinuation of LEGO Dimensions and Nexo Knights.
