The LEGO Icons Licensed subtheme features intricately designed sets that pay homage to iconic franchises and cultural touchstones. Notable releases include the 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, a detailed model of Sauron's fortress; the 10306 Atari 2600, a faithful recreation of the classic gaming console; and the 10391 Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams, inspired by the animated musical film O.T.M. 2040. Other sets in this subtheme are the 10338 Bumblebee, capturing the beloved Transformer character, and the 40693 Fell Beast, depicting a Nazgûl's mount from The Lord of the Rings. These sets offer builders the opportunity to engage with and celebrate diverse elements of popular culture through immersive building experiences.
2021 LEGO Sets
In 2021, LEGO explored digital-physical play with LEGO VIDIYO, a collaboration with Universal Music Group that let users create augmented-reality music videos using minifigures and collectible BeatBits. Although short-lived, the experiment reflected LEGO’s continued pursuit of hybrid play experiences. The LEGO Art series expanded with more display sets inspired by pop culture and design icons, strengthening LEGO’s appeal among adult builders. Established themes such as Star Wars, City, and Technic maintained momentum, while LEGO unveiled prototype bricks made from recycled materials—an early step toward fully sustainable production.
