The LEGO Wicked theme is based on the popular Broadway musical Wicked and motion picture, which tells the backstory of characters from The Wizard of Oz. The musical is a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz and is based on Gregory Maguire's novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The theme's characters and sets focus on the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West, named Elphaba, and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch. The theme was introduced in late 2024.
2024 LEGO Sets
In 2024, LEGO broadened its creative reach through major new licenses, digital experiences, and sustainability goals. The LEGO Dune theme debuted with the Atreides Royal Ornithopter, faithfully capturing the design of the 2021 film. A landmark collaboration with Epic Games introduced LEGO Fortnite, blending survival, building, and over 1,200 minifigure-style characters. Other notable releases included LEGO Animal Crossing and LEGO The Legend of Zelda, expanding LEGO’s Nintendo partnership, and LEGO Wicked, tied to the upcoming musical film. LEGO Despicable Me returned alongside sets for the new Despicable Me 4 movie, while LEGO Star Wars marked its 25th anniversary with commemorative editions. Sustainability remained central to LEGO’s mission as it reaffirmed goals to use 50% renewable or recycled materials by 2026 and phase out fossil-based plastics by 2032.
