LEGO 2164 Whale is a Basic FreeStyle set released in 1997, containing 9 pieces. The micro build depicts a stylized whale using black slopes on a blue plate, incorporating a red 2x2 brick printed with black-and-white eyes on opposite sides. It was issued as a regional promotion with the Sabah newspaper in Turkey and was also available through the LEGO Shop in Japan. All these promotional sets used the FreeStyle look and feel and most came in standard polybags although a few were boxed. These promotional sets were offered from various companies including Blockbuster, Kelloggs, Jack-In-The-Box and more throughout the US and the rest of the world.
