The DUPLO Winnie the Pooh subtheme released in 1999 was the first licensed subtheme of DUPLO. There were 2 released of the subtheme, first in 1999, sets were based on classic series of children's books from Disney and then again in 2011 with the release of the Winnie the Pooh movie that year.

One day, the river running through the Hundred Acre Wood over flowed its banks and caused a great flood. Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore were standing on the bridge over the river when, suddenly, they heard a cry. "Help, help!" Oh no, it was poor piglet, trapped inside a tree surrounded by water! What to do? "I know", said Winnie the Pooh to the frightened Piglet. "I'll sail over to you in a barrel, and you can jump into my arms. Get ready!" And so he did.
