The Nutcracker was distributed to LEGO employees as part of the annual Christmas gift. As 2017 marks LEGO's 40th anniversary of the Technic sets, the Nutcracker is primarily a Technic set. The box itself is shaped like a mini guardhouse for the nutcracker to reside in.Once the build is completed, there’s a lever at the back of the build to activate the nutcracking movement which also moves arms and mouth. It's also a large set in terms of size standing at about 20 inches / 50cm.

The card read: "In 2017 we celebrated both the company’s 85th birthday and the 40th Anniversary of the launch of LEGO® Technic. We bring these two milestones together in this special model – and add a touch of the festive Nutcracker theme as well. Enjoy!"
