Insights

Limited to a short promotional window in 2018, Diagon Alley (40289) pairs an exclusive Mr. Ollivander minifigure with a display-ready microscale of the shops, and while that scarcity and recognizable Harry Potter theme sustain collector interest, typical promo volatility and remake risk temper upside.

Set Facts

The LEGO set includes micro builds of Gringotts Bank, Ollivanders Wand Shop, Flourish and Blotts, Quality Quidditch Supplies, and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
A Mr. Ollivander minifigure with a wand is included in the set.
This set was a free promotion item in LEGO stores and LEGO.com online with qualified purchases of $99 or more.
Diagon Alley was designed by LEGO designer Justin Ramsden.

Jay’s Brick Blog

“If you were on the fence about this set, I cannot recommend this set enough. It’s a great display piece, fun to build and isn’t too cost-prohibitive as its essentially free! As the set contains 374 pieces, it’s definitely one of the more substantial promotional sets, even if... More those 374 pieces are mostly studs and plates.”

True North Bricks

“As a freebie, Diagon Alley is worth it for the bricks, but mostly for the Minifigure of Mr. Ollivander. If it had not been free, it still would have been a good value set. But, I would not have paid for it. I am not impressed with the look of the micro-build.”

The Brick Fan

“If you're a LEGO Harry Potter fan, there's no question if you want to pick up the LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (40289) or not. It's a pretty fun build to pass the time but the details are somewhat limited because it is in the microscale scale. That doesn't mean there... More aren't details with the set. For me, the best one is in front of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and the printed cobblestone tiles. The exclusive minifigure of Mr. Ollivander is also a bonus.”
