“The 8x8 plate has 3M double-sided tape on the back which, according to the data sheet, can be firmly attached to a range of non-porous surfaces. The plate itself is rigid and probably made from ABS. It's about one-half of the thickness of a normal plate but as you can see... More above it does not have anti-studs on the bottom, so they can't be stacked.”

“The color scheme is largely primary colors with blue, red, white and yellow joined by pink and pale blue. These can all be used to decorate the special 8×8 plate. It’s a solid material unlike some of the other DOTS products. I guess it’s similar to a baseplate but is more... More rigid. On the reserve of the plate is a sticky surface, peeling off the backing allows the plate to be stuck on most flat surfaces. There’s a leaflet in the box, which offers some inspirational patterns.”
