LEGO 4524-1 Holiday Calendar is a Creator Seasonal set released in 2002, containing 231 pieces and 2 Jack Stone junior figures. It was the LEGO Group's first test of the Advent Calendar concept and includes 24 small builds or characters to open across the Christmas countdown. Among the contents are Tina and Max, a fireplace, a small Santa figure, an ambulance, and other mini models such as animals, boats, aircraft, a church, a Christmas tree, and a present. The set was issued before Advent Calendars became a regular annual LEGO seasonal product.

The LEGO Advent Calendar 2002 from the Creator series features a variety of mini-sets for each day leading up to Christmas. Day 1 includes a Cat, Day 2 features Max the Minifigure, Day 3 has a Fireplace, and Day 4 includes Santa. Day 5 presents an Ambulance, while Day 6 has a Penguin. Day 7 offers Tina the Minifigure, and Day 8 has a Frog with Hat. Day 9 includes a Space Buggy, Day 10 has a Dinosaur, and Day 11 presents a Speedboat. Day 12 includes a Reindeer, Day 13 has a Snowman, and Day 14 features a Jet Ski. Day 15 includes a Dog, Day 16 has a Police Boat, and Day 17 features a Whale. Day 18 includes a Space Shuttle, Day 19 has a Parrot, and Day 20 features a Steamship. “Before the Advent Calendar sets that we knew came, LEGO released this set to test consumer response. It sold quite well, especially to young preschoolers. The downside is (to us) that they have Max and Tina figs which are Jack Stone sized.”

The LEGO Creator theme consists of a variety of subthemes that revolve around sets that focus on buildings, creatures, vehicles, robots and recently more specialized sets such as botanical and even the Chinese New Year. Many of these sets have fallen under the 3-in-1 label which include instructions in a single set to provide multiple alternative models. Originally created in 2001 with a focus on larger bucket sets, the LEGO Creator theme has expanded outside just bricks to later include minifigures.
