LEGO 5541 Blue Fury is a Model Team set released in 1995, containing 419 pieces. It builds a classic hot-rod style car in blue with a red seat, a black and gray chassis, and chrome details such as dual exhaust pipes, and includes transparently backed decals. The set was also marketed as “Hot Rod” and was reissued in 2004 as 10151 Hot Rod with the same design. A mini version, 40409 Hot Rod, was offered as a gift with purchase from June 1 to 21, 2020.

A new and sealed Blue Fury is currently valued at around $298, with annual growth of approximately 4%. The average used price is $62 for those in good overall condition. Based on current trends, this set could be valued near $315 within the next year.

“It was an absolute joy to build, with lots of unique parts, and lots of details that aren't fully visible in the catalog pictures. It makes a great display piece, of course, but unlike the newer Creator sets that aim for a similar sort of set, it's a ton of fun to play... More with. It doesn't have the mechanical detail of a Technic set, but with a sturdy design and working steering, it accomplishes the basics.”

About Model Team

The LEGO Model Team theme introduced in 1986 included larger scale vehicle models with more attention to details, such as steering and drive functionality as well as visual realism of the vehicles. Model Team was discontinued after 1999 and replaced by the Creator theme.
