LEGO 5571 Giant Truck is a Model Team set released in 1996, containing 1757 pieces and regarded as the largest Model Team set. The primary build is a long-nose American-style semi truck, also known as the Black Cat, featuring working steering, opening hood and doors, a tilting cab, and a detailed V8 engine. In the Model Team series. it’s not about functions, but about the most detailed reproduction of the original. The Giant Truck appeared on the market in 1996 and was most... More advanced. And it still is. For used models which are in good condition one can pay several hundred euro. The model isn’t suitable for playing, since many individual parts fall off easily. The Giant Truck belongs therefore in a showcase, where it can be admired. All in all, the model deserves six stars in the overall rating.”

“This is a really great set, though groundbreaking only in scale and detail, not design. Huge black truck (tractor-trailer style) with red stripe and grey and chrome accents. The main model is very similar at first glance to 5570 Highway Rig from the original Model Team line,... More though with more than 2.5 times as many pieces, this is obviously much larger and more detailed.”

About Model Team

The LEGO Model Team theme introduced in 1986 included larger scale vehicle models with more attention to details, such as steering and drive functionality as well as visual realism of the vehicles. Model Team was discontinued after 1999 and replaced by the Creator theme.
