“The Coast Guard base is built onto two raised grey platforms, as usual for most harbor-related sets of the 1990s. From the pier extends an L-shaped jetty. Next to the Coast Guard base is a helipad on a latticed plate and a gas pump. At the ground floor of the building is a... “This is basically a harbor version of the older Coastal Rescue Base. It includes one shore piece, one ramp piece and a two story building built atop these two plates. LEGO Coastguard (Coast Guard) is a subtheme of the Town introduced in 1989 and ran until 1996 that was based around maritime coastguard rescue services. Town Coastguard was later moved to the City theme.

Coastguard consists of 5 sets that ran from 1989 to 1996. As of today, 6387 Coastal Rescue Base is the most valuable Coastguard set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $490.
