LEGO 66 Governor Set was a 387 piece Samsonite set released in 1968. It was an FAO Schwarz exclusive set only available in the United States. It contained bricks, wheels, doors, slanted roof bricks, baseplates, windows, and other elements in red, blue, black, yellow, white and some transparent bricks.
Governor Set is an extremely old and very rare LEGO set. We have not seen set 66-1 currently for sale online or in the hundreds of retail stores in good/new condition in over 1,874 days. Because of the rarity of this hard to find set the current estimated value of $420.44 might actually be much lower than the true value, assuming this set can be found for sale.Because Governor Set is a very old set from 1968, finding it in a sealed and good condition might be difficult thus making the true value even that much higher.

About Samsonite Basic Set

Samsonite was an American manufacturer of LEGO sets which introduced the very first USA LEGO catalog for Christmas of 1961. LEGO and Samsonite created a partnership to produce and sell LEGO in the US. The result was a 9-year license for exclusive North American distribution rights. Samsonite began marketing sets under the name LEGO by Samsonite in the US in 1961 and Canada in 1962.

Basic Set consists of 82 sets that ran from 1961 to 1975. As of today, 080-2 Ambassador Set is the most valuable Basic Set set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $3,147.
