LEGO 6761 Bandit's Secret Hide-Out is a Western Cowboys set released in 1996, containing 250 pieces and 5 minifigures. The build depicts an abandoned gold mine with minecart tracks leading to a cannon position and a raised log cabin accessed by an exterior staircase. The minifigures include bandits Black Bart, Flatfoot Thompson, and Dewey Cheatum, plus Cavalry Lieutenant Colonel Colt Carson and a Cavalry Soldier. “The hideout is built onto a baseplate with a curved road and is basically an abandoned gold mine and has mine cart tracks sticking out of the main entrance on the ground floor that leads into the rock formation. Instead of a minecart, there is a cannon on the tracks. Next to... More the entrance is a sign with a skull that tells trespassers to "Keep out".”

“I see this set as a place for the bandits to drop-off their stolen goodies, like a big closet, and then run off to steal more stuff. It would have been nice to see a little cooking-fire included, some pots and pans, maybe even a chicken leg, to make the bandits more... More comfortable, but you can always buy the smaller Western sets for that.”

About Western Cowboys

LEGO Cowboys was the first Western sets released in the theme and focused on sheriffs fighting against outlaws as well as a military presence in the old west while the few sets that featured civilians simply served as a back drop for bandits robbing carriages or banks. The Cowboys' subtheme was the first LEGO sets that introduced realistic fire arms such as revolvers and rifles.

Cowboys consists of 12 sets that ran from 1996 to 2002. As of today, 6769 Fort Legoredo is the most valuable Cowboys set with an estimated new/factory sealed value of $1,445.
