LEGO 688-1 Shell Tanker is a LEGOLAND / Vehicle set released in 1973, containing 63 pieces. Also known as Tank Truck, the set builds a yellow and white Shell-branded articulated tanker featuring a cab unit and two connected trailer tanks. Each tank section is decorated with printed Shell logo bricks, reflecting LEGO’s long-running partnership with Shell during the 1960s and 1970s. The model uses early small wheel elements and brick-built construction instead of molded vehicle bases, typical of the pre-minifigure design era. Distributed primarily in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada, the Shell Tanker was one of several licensed fuel transport models in the LEGOLAND vehicle range. Compact, beautiful Tanker — “Considering the available parts at the time, this set is very nicely built and realistic looking. It is playable and very sturdy. There are lots of Shell-branded bricks (two 1x2 and four 1x6), as well as a Legoland 1x4 and a headlights brick 1x4.”
